Then the guest of honor

Is finally there at 8

Cocktail hour – 6 o’clock

That’s the usual time

Why then, is it dinner parties

Never serve ‘til 9?

It seems in this world

Where you shouldn’t be late

Today’s motto must be

“Hurry up and wait”

Your plane leaves at 12 o’clock

You’ve been there time & again

Why must they always make you

Check your baggage in by 10?

The doctor says at 10 o’clock

He’ll treat you for the flu
You’ve picked up even more germs

When you’re finally seen at 2

Modern days, there’s no denying

Are definitely great

Except that we are stuck with

All this “Hurry up and wait”

You hurry home at 3

You still have supper to fix

Your husband calls at 5

He won’t be home ‘til 6

One hour tune-ups

Take 2 hours more

Their signs should read

In by one, out by four

Someone must have known

When he said “It’s never too late”

We’d be living in a society

Of “Hurry up and wait”

You’re running late

Your train leaves at 9

It’s always late

Today, it’s on time

When it has a great debate
